So far, it’s looking good for the year 2014, which has been dubbed the Year of the Wood Horse. But how does that translate for homeowners?
We interviewed Feng Shui expert Johnson Chua on what homeowners can expect for the year 2014. According to him, “we may expect good news in terms of business and opportunities to increase financial luck this year.”
However, he cautioned that there may be a lot of conflicts for this year as well, given the fire elements that can cause a lot of aggression. He also warned of fire disasters.
To help homeowners have a good year, Chua suggested that they use the principles of feng shui to locate the good and bad stars in the respective areas of direction. Once they do this, they can maximize or activate the areas that are lucky as well as avoid or mitigate the negative ones.
The following directions indicate what areas they signify:
- North – success luck
- Northwest – misfortune
- West – mentors and helpful people
- Southwest – victory luck
- South – wealth luck
- Southeast – argumentative
- East – Illness
- Northeast – robbery
- Center – education and romance
To improve the elements, Chua suggested using colors, like green and red for prosperity and blue and yellow for wisdom and harmony.
For homeowners who live in small spaces like condos and apartments, he advised, “For condo owners, the directions are also useful but unfortunately the movement is more limited.” He suggested moving furniture or transferring the bed “so we can use cures to activate and enhance the good areas and weaken the bad sector of the house.”
For the northern area of the house, Chua said this place should be well-lit with something in red added to the mix. In the northeast section, he noted that water cures or a rhino figure should be placed here. For the eastern area, you should hang metal chimes or include images of a wu-lou gourd.
For the southeast area of the house, you should add more red color, like a red lampshade. The southern part of the house should have a money tree, Chua said. In the southwest area of the house, you should put a water fountain or an aquarium—unless it’s the bedroom.
In the western part, you should put metal trophies or images of elephants, while in the northwest, you can put metal and salt cures. Lastly, in the center, you should add images of harmony like pictures of your family.
For those who are considering buying a new home by this year, whether they be condos, houses, or apartments, Chua said that the buyers should first check their personal lucky direction and then choose the right feng shui of their target house.
“It’s a good time to check and attract opportunities when having your own home,” Chua said. “Just remember, a good environment will embrace a good feng shui and a good feng shui will activate good love, wealth, and fortune.”
