Cebu City – Where Faith Meets Fortune

The city of Cebu is known as the birthplace of many of the Philippines' heroes, leaders, and captains of industry. Strategically located in a vital trade route, it is one of the country's largest ports, manufacturing hub, and commercial centers. Many families from all parts of the country have chosen to relocate to Cebu to take advantage of the clean air and wholesome environment. It is where a strong faith meets chances to make a fortune, and this makes Cebu an ideal place for raising a family.

Center of Culture and Education

Even before the Spaniards arrived, Cebu was already a vibrant port town with a diverse array of cultural influences from all over Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The Spaniards, in turn, left a very visible imprint on the city. In fact, Magellan's Cross, which is reputed to have been planted by the legendary explorer in 1521, is a revered symbol of the introduction of Christianity into the country. Cebuanos also venerate the image of the Santo Niño de Cebu (the Child Jesus), which is one of the oldest Christian relics in the Philippines. The Sinulog Festival, which is celebrated yearly in honor of the Santo Niño, draws tourists from all parts of the globe.

Families with young children can choose from among the city's top schools, such as the University of San Carlos (USC), Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, the Cebu International School, and St. Theresa's College, all of which offer primary and secondary education that is at par with the best schools in the country. Local colleges include USC, the University of the Visayas, Southwestern University, and the University of Cebu, which have all produced board topnotchers in their respective fields.

Because of the presence of cultural and educational opportunities in the city, children who grow up in Cebu develop a strong sense of patriotism and love for family.

Buying a House in Cebu City

Much of Cebu is yet to be developed; however, many of the Philippines' largest property developers have built residential subdivisions all over the city. Most of these subdivisions offer amenities such as 24/7 security, clubhouses, access to recreational facilities, and proximity to schools. One can buy a house in Cebu City from P1.5 million in the Talamban district to P85 million for a mansion in the Busay Hills. This proves that Cebu City has a house for families of every size and earning capacity.
